I am intrigued by work that TRANSFORMS, not just the actor but those who witness the work.

Mover. Singer. Writer. Moderator. Believer.

With roots stemming from both North and South Carolina, and raised in Richmond, VA, Jamar Jones is an artist molded with a Southern sensibility.  Since childhood there has been an innate desire to inhabit and share stories of all kinds. Jamar was that child that was always curious about “grown folks business”. This curiosity evolved into a passion for character creation on stage, screens, and various non-traditionally art-driven mediums.

A graduate of the College of William and Mary, where he studied Sociology and Theatre, Jamar learned the importance of sharing and curating performing arts experiences in spaces and communities beyond the traditional theatrical arena. Through producing and facilitating, one of his greatest joys is supporting others in making their artistic visions reality. He is an award-winning actor who utilizes storytelling to examine, embrace, and excavate truth from centuries before, particularly those centering Black American Life.

Jamar proudly served as a Resident Company member of Playmakers Repertory Company, while receiving his Master of Fine Arts from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is a lifelong student and seeker of truth because the child within still has PLENTY of curiosities, and for that he gives thanks.
